Joseph H. Thomas

Mr. Thomas has been associated with the financial data processing industry for more than 30 years, serving in an executive capacity since 1973. He has focused his career in the check and remittance processing markets, and has considerable experience in the optical (OCR) and magnetic ink (MICR) character recognition systems. He has been instrumental in the development of various equipment and software systems for creating and processing a wide-variety of documents including tax forms, checks, and retail remittances.

He has held senior management positions with major manufacturers of remittance and document processing equipment since joining Cummins-Allison’s Data Systems Division in 1973. He was appointed its president in 1978 and served in that capacity until the Division was sold in 1980. The company produced high-speed document reading/sorting equipment for check and remittance processing.

He formed a technical consulting firm in 1985 for bank automation, where he headed the development of a patented currency recognition system for high-speed currency counters used throughout the financial world.

In 1988, he rejoined Cummins-Allison Corp president and chief executive officer of the Allison Coupon Division, directing the full automation of computer printed payment system products and processes. He was instrumental in the introduction of the EDGE product line, a widely successful desktop laser check printing system for small to medium size businesses. EDGE was established as separate entity in January 2005.

Mr. Thomas and three associates acquired the Allison Division from the Cummins-Allison Corp in 1995 and established Allison Payment Systems, LLC. In 2001, the interests of the three associates were sold to the executive management team. Mr. Thomas currently serves as chairman and chief executive officer.

Joe has been married to his wife, Betty, for 53 years and they have four sons, three of which hold key roles in the company. An avid golfer, he and Betty have traveled extensively in search of new golfing challenges.

Mr. Thomas attended college at Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri, majoring in Business Administration. Subsequently, he studied Electrical Engineering at Merrimac College in Massachusetts.
