Company History
|
Allison Payment Systems (APS) is a privately held, 118-year old
printing company based in Indianapolis, Indiana. Founded by Noah
Allison, APS is the oldest business in the greater Indianapolis area based
on the prolific Allison name. The Allison family introduced coupons as a
means of conducting payment transactions and is the oldest payment coupon
provider in the country. Beginning business operations as a coupon book
production company in 1888, the Allison Coupon Company was eventually sold
by the Allison family to Chicago-based Cummins Perforator in 1962. It
became a division of Cummins-Allison Corp in 1973. Lead by Joseph Thomas,
its current CEO, the business operation was acquired by the APS management
team and renamed Allison Payment Systems, LLC. It was reorganized as a limited liability
company in the state of Indiana in May of 1995. Since that time
revenues have risen more than 500%. In 2001, the executive management team
purchased the interests of three of the original four investors. Mr.
Thomas remains the company’s majority shareholder. The company’s expertise lies in the variable printing of high quality financial documents which include periodic billing statements, monthly invoices, DDA statements, coupon payment books, late notices, welcome notices and a host of other time critical printed materials. Automated document matching has enabled one major medical services client to improve its delivery of payments to service providers with maximum efficiency. Over the last ten years APS has evolved into a complete Print & Mail services company serving a wide range of nationally known clients, including many listed in the Fortune 500. Additionally, the company’s on-line services have been expanded to provide a full range of electronic document delivery and archival storage. In 2005, the company produced more than 3 million coupon books and 165 million printed statement images or other mail pieces. APS is the largest first-class mailer serviced by the Indianapolis Post Office and is the largest commercial printer in the Greater Indianapolis area. The company also operates as a licensee for in-plant loading and verification for the USPS. APS operates on the basis of its company motto…Timely Products, Timeless Quality, offering proprietary services and payment products intended to automate the servicing of diversified printing and mailing portfolios, accelerating the velocity of money. Its client base represents a cross section of industries and applications that include products to the consumer as well as business to business. It also includes some of the largest financial institutions, mortgage servicing and healthcare agencies in the country.
